A Day in the Life of Health & Physical Education at Living Waters

Lower Primary (Foundation – Year 2)

PE for our youngest students is all about moving with joy and confidence. Each session starts with a lively warm-up of stretches and energetic games to get bodies buzzing. The focus then shifts to building fundamental movement skills like throwing, catching, hopping, and running. These skills are applied in playful games that encourage teamwork and participation. We wrap up with a cool-down and reflection circle where students share what they enjoyed and think about ways to improve next time.

Outcomes: Students learn to move confidently and safely, describe how their body feels during activity, and practice respectful teamwork in games.

Upper Primary (Year 3 – Year 6)

Older students begin with dynamic warm-ups—stretching, strength work, and high-energy games that sharpen focus. Main activities focus on developing movement skills and applying them in structured sports such as AFL, cricket, and other small-sided games. Students practice team strategies, fair play, and problem-solving while building fitness and stamina. Each session finishes with a cool-down and a chance to reflect on learning outcomes and teamwork.

Outcomes: Students refine movement skills, apply strategies in games, and demonstrate leadership, cooperation, and responsibility in physical activity contexts.

Why This Matters for Your Child

  • Physical confidence and coordination that supports overall wellbeing
  • Social skills like cooperation, encouragement, and resilience
  • An understanding of fair play and respectful relationships
  • The joy of being active, setting the foundation for a healthy lifestyle

Every warm-up, game, and reflection helps children flourish as confident, capable, and compassionate movers.
